Press Release- August 13, 2009

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 13, 2009

PARENTS USE TWITTER AND BLOG TO RALLY THE COMMUNITY.

LAKEVIEW LEARNING CENTER PARENTS AND STAFF WILL JOIN TOGETHER ON AUGUST 18, 2009 TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT.

Lake Forest, Calif. -- Lakeview Learning Center announced on August 12, 2009 that due to “financial reasons” the Nationally accredited institution would be closing their doors effective August 28, 2009, after more than 15 years of service to our community.

Children were sent home with a letter to give their parents explaining the abrupt closing of Lakeview Learning Center along with a refund for their deposit. Many parents have gathered together to address the board with hopes to come to an agreement. Pete Deutschman, a local resident and parent who sends his daughter to Lakeview Learning Center, has started tweeting and setup a blog with hopes to create awareness about the closing of Lakeview.

“I hope that we can open lines of communications around what has become a very urgent issue to many parents and members as a way of resolving and salvaging an amazingly valuable program to our community. Unfortunately, our Board President sees this preschool as a liability rather than the asset it truly is” said Pete Deutschman. “I can’t get to everyone fast enough, but that is where Twitter and the blog are helping as just 24 hours after posting, my phone is ringing off the hook!”

On Tuesday August 18, 2009 parents, teachers and children will be gathering at the school, located at 22921 Ridge Route Dr in Lake Forest, for a friendly show of support for Lakeview Learning Center. Participants will meet in front of the clubhouse starting at 5pm.

“I am so happy to be working with such great parents and I am looking forward to us all teaming together and showing our support,” said Dolores Wirth a local resident whose children also attend the Lakeview Learning Center.

Lakeview Learning Center is a private preschool located at 22921 Ridge Route Dr in Lake Forest offering a variety of developmentally appropriate child centered or teacher directed activities with emphasis on "hands on" learning.
